San Francisco Streets + Elevation White

This Map's Story:
I made this map as an homage to the great city that I live in--SAN FRANCISCO! I wanted to make something that is both tactile and layered, so I first printed the elevation layer in an orangy yellow to define the hills of San Francisco. I then overlaid it with the street layer to allow viewers to identify locations using SF's two most defining traits.

Screen printed on 12x18 inch archival paper

Note on the Process:
The map begins with geographically accurate GIS-data of streets and elevation from the City of San Francisco. This data is processed in a mapping program and then smoothed in Illustrator. My screen printing shop then burned the map to a screen, which I used to hand-pull a small set of prints using Speedball acrylic ink on 100lb paper.

I hand-check each map for flaws and will personally package and ship with shipping insurance within 1-2 days of ordering.
